Contour day spa in hard rock4/30/2023 There are two areas to this place, the spa and the salon. They even have a little questionnaire for you to fill out relating to COVID-19 to make sure everyone who comes in is safe and responsible. Everything was immaculate and nothing looked out of place. I made plans to spend the entire day here and I don't regret it at all! Whitney was great with helping me get everything that I wanted booked and was extremely nice when I arrived. Recently, my husband told me that I needed to have a day off and so (as weird as it felt) I did. As a mom of four children, I hardly ever have time to myself and making time for myself is something that is almost impossible. Okay, where do I begin? When I lived in the Suwanee area, I had passed this place all the time when going to the pharmacy across the street or to the eye doctor and dentist behind their location and never once set foot inside. She did such a good job! Ari added on the lashes to finish out the look. I wanted a natural look with a little more dramatic eye. If you have textured hair, see Ari or Cathy! Amanda seemed knowledgeable about curly hair, too.Īlso forgot to mention Amanda did my makeup. I'd highly recommend checking them out to see if they're a good fit for you. I also got a hand treatment from Tina that was heavenly - would highly recommend it! My hands felt sooo soft and the massage was amazing! The salon itself was super clean, and everyone from check in to style to check out was eager to help as they could. I'd also love if they carried hair products that are specifically made for textured hair, but Ari worked with what she had and I couldn't be happier! I wish they featured more diverse clients and/or hair types on their site. Ari and Amanda did my color which came out better than I imagined, and Ari helped me make my style more bold with a side buzz. Her hair texture is almost identical to mine and it's obvious she knows what she's doing. Once I got there and met Ari who did most of my hair I felt much more at ease. I have curly/textured hair and after looking at their site and seeing the type of hair featured, I was nervous and convinced I'd only ask for a trim. I won a makeover from a contest that my husband nominated for so got to experience a full pampering at Salon Greco.

Blackmagic disk speed test vs4/29/2023 However, unlike AJA or BMD’s tools, Activity Monitor can’t be isolated to report results on a single device. For now, however, be careful relying on either of these software tools until we learn more.Īpple’s Activity Monitor can be used to measure data transfer rates. All three said they would look into it and get back to me. Some variation is to be expected, but not this much. The problem is that we don’t know which one is the most accurate.Īs I mentioned at the beginning, I reached out to OWC, AJA and Blackmagic Design to get their interpretation of these results. Here are the detailed results of my tests.Ĭlearly, there is a significant difference between these two tools – and there shouldn’t be. However, consistency is not the same as accuracy. BMD reported far more consistent speeds than AJA. NOTE: The lower the standard deviation, which is measured in MB/second, the more consistent the speed. NOTE: While the difference between read and write speeds is due to the Thunderblade, the differences in speed measurements are due to the software design.Īnother troubling aspect of these results is that AJA System Test Lite reported a much wider fluctuation in speed measurements – especially in write speeds – than Blackmagic. AJA System Test Lite consistently recorded read speeds 21.8% slower than Blackmagic Disk Speed Test.AJA System Test Lite consistently recorded write speeds 44% slower than Blackmagic Disk Speed Test.Same day, same computer, same storage, same data file size (4 GB), same connection (Thunderbolt 4) - wildly different results. I used four tests here simply to save space. NOTE: As part of my Thunderblade review, I ran twelve speed tests on each software and got very similar results. I ran four tests using each software to measure the read and write speeds of the Thunderblade. I created a RAID 0 using an 8 TB OWC Thunderblade SSD, which uses four NVMe SSDs. Clearly, one – or both- of these software tools is wildly wrong. Some variation during tests is expected, but this amount of difference is ridiculous. There is a 40% difference when measuring write speeds and a 22% difference when measuring read speeds between these two software tools. Since we use both these tools daily to measure and verify the performance of our system, these differences trouble me - a lot. Except, I get significantly different results when testing storage speeds using AJA System Test Light versus Blackmagic Disk Speed Test. (Read that review here.) This hardware speed demon is designed to maximize data transfer speeds using Thunderbolt 3 or 4. This last week, I was testing the speed and capacity of the new OWC Thunderblade SSD RAID. By the way, thanks for all your work testing and documenting the test results, very much appreciated.” I don’t have any information on why there is a discrepancy between the full AJA system test and BMD, however I will let you know as soon as I have update from Product Development. Today their tech support emailed me: “I did forward your test results to Product Development for review and they did acknowledge the Lite version has an issue. (Errors also exist in Apple Activity Monitor.) Assume whatever test results you are looking at are wrong. So far, no developer is able to explain these differences. Here’s an updated article looking at the differences between measurement tools. As always, I’ll keep you posted as soon as I hear back from them.” Since then, I’ve heard nothing. Blackmagic PR wrote: “Thanks so much for sharing this information – I’ve passed this along to the Blackmagic Design team. I’ve heard back from OWC, Blackmagic Design and AJA.

Truvy chimes in to explain, “Oh, that’s simple! You don’t need to write that down. Truvy is doing hair (Because you shouldn’t trust anyone that does their own… It isn’t natural!) while Clairee is browsing the index-style recipe cards for favorites to copy for her own collection (which I can clearly remember doing with my mom’s recipes when I was growing up), when she asks Truvy about the “Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa…”. The Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Cake is a the sweet creation of Truvy (Dolly Parton) from one of the all-time best classic movies, Steel Magnolias. After recently seeing a friend of mine in a local theater production of the film, the spark to try to bake the famous cake was reignited. This recipe combines the best of both worlds. There is nothing that I love more than a super-simple, sweet recipe.

Drag queen makeup4/29/2023 Manny Gutierrez, Maybelline’s first male face, and James Charles, CoverGirl’s first male face, have both become so influential they’ve launched makeup collaborations as well. Patrick Starrr, who has over four million subscribers on YouTube and multiple M.A.C collaborations under his belt, got his start making drag tutorials. Patrick Starrr with one of his M.A.C products, Manny Gutierrez’s "Life’s a Drag" Lunar Beauty palette, James Charles’ Morphe palette. While ‘90s media briefly embraced drag queens in movies ( Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Paris Is Burning), talk shows ( Arsenio Hall, Sally, Geraldo Rivera), and beyond (RuPaul’s cameo in The B-52’s “Love Shack” music video, RuPaul and M.A.C's Viva Glam campaign), the community was still largely in its own bubble. New York City was an incubator for the scene: Uptown, Harlem ballroom culture (which dates back as early as the 1920s) thrived, providing a space for more Black and Latino performers downtown, queens were booking hot spots like Pyramid, Limelight, and Tunnel. “It was the first time that I truly felt celebrated, accepted, admired, and it gave me the confidence and the courage that I felt like I'd always lacked,” he recalls, “Because of drag, now I feel like even oozed on out into my personal life.”įor decades, drag was a subculture only found when sought. performer Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson, whose stage name is Alyssa Edwards, says the first time he stepped out of his house in full makeup and hair was an “electrifying” feeling.

Chaos control charlie4/29/2023 Mukherjee is part of a cadre of HMS community members who have taken a leadership role in building a more comprehensive response to the outbreak in Massachusetts and around the U.S. The problem with the index was that it underestimated the importance of several elements that are necessary for real health security, Mukherjee said, including a coherent, integrated system that can help people meet their needs for clinical care while providing clear messaging and social support to make preventive public health efforts effective and sustainable. “In the U.S., we have the building blocks of a health system, but without trust and leadership and engagement and care, we don't really have a system,” she said. “When we think about how to balance control of an epidemic over chaos, we have to double down on care and concern for the people and communities who are hardest hit,” said Joia Mukherjee, associate professor of global health and social medicine in the Blavatnik Institute at Harvard Medical School and chief medical officer at Partners In Health, an organization focused on strengthening community-based health care delivery. has tallied more than 540,000 deaths and more than 30 million confirmed cases, according to the latest count from the World Health Organization.
